The desire to progress onto Level 2 is as important as developing your ICT/Business skills and knowledge. Over the years a significant number of our level 1 students have progressed onto level 2 and then level 3 before progressing into employment or university.
Assessment for this course is 100% coursework. However, this will be evidenced in a variety of different ways. This includes poster designs, classroom presentations, working as part of a team, multimedia projects, spreadsheets, written coursework assignments, role plays and tutor observations, etc.
What do I need to qualify for this course?
This qualification is open to learners who have gained on average a grade average of F-G. You should have an interest in ICT/Business but also a willingness to work within other subject areas, such as Sport, Health and Social Care, Travel and Tourism and Art and Design.
The primary aim of the course is to open up to the learner a wide variety of options and build your confidence and through this your written and verbal communication so that you are better prepared to progress onto a level 2 programme in your chosen field and learning pathway.
Students will need to keep all their work well organised so their assignments may be submitted to the exam board for external verification.

I have really enjoyed my time on this course and am looking forward to next year
The lessons have been varied and fun. I have learnt a lot and feel better prepared for the next level. I want to get to university
The teachers gave us a lot of support and really believed in us. They wanted us to succeed and gave us confidence that we could do it
Meeting students who started off at level 1 like me and are now planning to go to university was really motivating. I want to come and talk to future groups of level 1 students and show them they can succeed too
What else should I know about?
There are several dedicated ICT/Business rooms with wireless internet access, printing facilities, interactive smartboards and projectors. In addition many lessons will make use of mobile technology in the form of laptops, tablets and smartphones.

All students will get the opportunity to do two weeks of work experience, which will feed into and support different units.
Finally a number of team building and activity days are built in throughout the year. In previous years students have gone to industrial visits, bowling, on an outdoor activity day and to a trampolining centre and much more.
