St Charles Student Awarded the much coveted Jack Petchey Community Award
Congrats to St Charles Sixth Form student Paula Saez who has been awarded the coveted Jack Petchey Community Award!
The Jack Petchey Foundation Community Awards are all about inspiring young people to achieve and are big believers in acknowledging and praising efforts and acts of kindness in this difficult period of Covid 19. The Awards programme is designed to give young people helping, within government guidelines, those less fortunate than themselves, with a well-deserved ‘thank you’. Students are nominated for all kinds of wonderful reasons and winners get £50 to spend on whatever they like and a letter from Sir Jack Petchey CBE.
So well done to Paula, our Level 3 Art and A Level Spanish student at St Charles on achieving this JP community award, for her work during lockdown on a project titled "Sin Fronteras”. Paula was one of 500 entries! The project is run by LAWRS (Latin American Women's Right Services) to support and empower Latin American young women living in the UK. You can read about Paula’s work in our recent news item: https://bit.ly/2CoYPXE
Paula has opted to use her award money to support her grandmother in Peru, who she is very close to. Eleanor Fox, Programme Manager at the Jack Petchey Foundation sent us these words:
“Well done Paula! What a fantastic achievement to receive a Jack Petchey Community Award. Your volunteering has not gone unnoticed. Congrats and keep up the good work!”
Paula is sadly leaving us this year; she is heading off for university and although she will be greatly missed, we know she will keep in touch with us as an equally inspirational alumna! Thank you for your myriad of fantastic contributions to St Charles and the wider community during your time with us.
