Jack Petchey Award Winner September 2016

Eddi-Christ Goma was our worthy recipient for his significant contributions to the College community. Eddie gives 100% to everything he is involved in. He is a popular member of the College. His teachers describe him as “hardworking and extremely enthusiastic as well as being extremely helpful to peers, making him an inspiration to others at all times”. His tutor describes him as someone with a unique ability to “make others feel special and at ease”.  Eddie is a talented musician who plays guitar and piano and he is making excellent progress on his L3 Diploma in Performing Arts course and A2 Music Technology. He has shared his considerable talent with us all in the College Talent Show which he won and at the College's Christmas Cabaret productions and he has been part of the winning team at Dance Showdown competition for two years running now. He was awarded a special scholarship for a week's summer school for his dance skills last year.  His performing arts teacher cite his ability to entertain and amaze audiences with  his performances and states that she will never forget his Michael Jackson dance on the stage of the Thriller musical and the rapturous applause he received. In addition Eddi has used his talent to help raise money for charity, he has taught dance classes on our college open days in the Performing Arts Dept. talking enthusiastically to prospective students and parents and he has performed at various college events. As one member of staff said, "I think he is just great!" Eddie said he felt very “honoured and humbled to have been given the award. Thank you.”

Eddie spent his £250 on a set of text books for his Level 3 performing Art class. The course is a new course/ specification this year. The books will to help students get to grips with the theory of performance that they are required to study on this advanced level course.
