Basketball at St Charles
Whilst taking a short break from college in the US Kayne dropped by to tell us about his experience of St Charles.
When asked he said ‘I feel like St Charles prepared me for my move by providing my career with structure, discipline and a focus on having a high work ethic. Morning club practice sessions helped my skill development massively by giving me the opportunity to work out before school began and start my day of right, it also meant than school and basketball didn’t conflict.’
He went onto to say that Patrick, St Charles’ basketball coach, had been a great help through basketball coaching and liaising with academic staff to ensure that he was on track with his other subjects.
Kayne said he wanted to be a basketball player from the age of 8 and that his dream is to play in the NBA. With continued hard work and effort, he is moving closer to realising his goal. This summer Kayne will be playing for Great Britain in the FIBA U20 European Championships in Germany. On representing his country, he said, ‘Representing Great Britain makes me feel very proud and privileged as only a handful of individuals that can say they’ve been able to wear the GB uniform.’ After that he’ll be heading back to the US to study at Northwest Florida State College.
We’re delighted that Kayne dropped by to share his experiences and wish him every success in the European Championships… and beyond!
