International Women's Day 2018
On 8th March 2018, a group of cross-college students and staff came together at St Charles Sixth Form College to celebrate International Women’s Day over a cupcake lunch!
International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day marks a call to action for the acceleration of gender parity. There was a strong call to action amongst the group to #PressforProgress with those present motivating and uniting each other to think, act and be gender inclusive.
Earlier in the week, students involved helped prepare a stimulating display for the College Atrium to mark the day, documenting the story of women’s struggles for equality and the Vote. The event, which was organised by the College’s Learning Support Student Voice and Activity Group was rounded off with lunch and a group photograph celebrating the group’s collective action and shared ownership, driving gender parity forward and making a positive difference for women.
