St Charles played out an entertain final against a fit and well organised Priestly college from Warrington. It was Priestly who took the lead after 20 minutes when a cross come shot from 35 yards flew into the St Charles net. The lead though only lasted around 15 minutes, when Meron Abraham tapped home from close range after the opposition keeper could not hold a deep cross from captain Sean Ndinga-Basaye. The first half ended with Priestley probably just shading it.

The second half saw St Charles come out of the blocks a lot quicker and implement their game plan better than they had in the first half. Shots from Hamid Noori, Ndinga-Basaye and Bilal Bihi were all well saved by the Priestley goalkeeper. With no further goals it was on to our second extra time in three days.

Any notion of tiredness was dispelled when Abrahams neatly finished off a flowing move involving Glenn Annang, Joe Agunloye and Noori in the 96th minute. The second half of extra time saw the opposition put us under greater pressure as they searched for an equalizer, but good defending as a team, a last ditch block from the excellent Steliou Contonicola and a tremendous point blank save from Seydou Traore kept our noses in front. With Priestley still applying pressure, a long kick from Traore caused confussion at the back which allowed the tireless Abraham to head over the keeper and tap into an empty net to seal the win and the colleges first ever ECFA national title.

We'd like to thank Walsall FC and the ECFA/AoC for there hospitality and wish Priestley college well and thank them and their manager Danny Jordan for a hard fought game.
