Learning Support Department Bowling Trip

St Charles LS students were "bowled over" it seems!
On 23rd April 2025, the Learning Support Department at St. Charles College organised a fun afternoon trip for its regular users, featuring a pizza party followed by a fun day out at Queens Bowling in Queensway, Bayswater. This trip was part of the college’s ethos on Personal Development and aimed to promote students' social interaction, communication, and teamwork skills through a structured, yet enjoyable, afternoon.
The day began with students gathering at the Learning Support Department for lunch, where they were treated to the infamous pizza party. A variety of pizzas and drinks were served, allowing students to socialise and relax together before the main event. There was a great buzz of excitement in the air as students connected with each other, forming their competitive teams. The group then travelled together by public transport to Queens Bowling in joyful spirits.
Once at the venue, students enjoyed a lively bowling session. For many, this was a great opportunity to step out of their comfort zones, with some students even overcoming their initial apprehension to get involved. The day was filled with positive social experiences, with many students making new friends and joining group activities they might not have participated in before.
One student said, “The bowling trip was very special for me, a very special experience with friends that meant a lot to me as this is my last year at St. Charles.” Another shared, “The pizza was hot and delicious, and the bowling was a lot of fun. I won my group, scoring 69 out of 100.” A third added, “Great day out, I really enjoyed it all!”
The bowling trip achieved its goal of fostering social interaction, teamwork, and enhancing personal development. Based on feedback from both students and staff, it's clear that these types of outings are enriching and highly beneficial.
