Jonathan was nominated for the Jack Petchey Leader Award by both staff and students.

Starting his journey at St Charles as a Learning Support Assistant, Ms McHugh, Head of Learning Support states his enthusiasm was infectious and he was a well-loved member of the LS team who was highly popular with students. It was inevitable Jonathan would progress to work within the College’s pastoral team where he now is a highly respected and dependable member of that team.

Mr Collard and Mr Alayiye who oversee our pastoral provision tell us that Jonathan is the kind of person you can always count on; reliable, level headed and always ready to help without a fuss.

He consistently maintains a strong presence around the college, building excellent relationships with both students and staff through mutual respect and a genuine interest in the welfare of our student population. He leads by example and brings real energy and vibrancy to everything he does. No one could or will forget his bright and cheerful early morning alarm calls, during our infamous “The Challenge” trip, which goes down in history!

His line manager last year in Romero Hall, states Jonathan is a real “can do” motivator who repeatedly goes above and beyond the call of duty to support students in his remit. He acts as a true mentor, unlocking their potential. Mr Hall describes him as a shining example of the type of character needed to guide our young people towards realising their true potential on every level. His line manager this year, Ms Olanya in Aquinas Hall tells us that Jonathan is an absolute joy to work with! He’s hardworking, an outstanding team player and totally dedicated to supporting students. His reliability, positivity and enthusiasm make such a difference within the College Community every single day.

When students in Aquinas, Soubirous and Romero Halls were asked, their supporting comments included; “Mr G. is ACE”, “he’s really helpful and kind”; “he’s always positive”; “he’s fair”; “he has my back”. With Jonathan behind them, these students are destined to succeed and the college community are proud to have him!
