“If you think you can, you can!”
The annual Jack Petchey Awards Ceremony which celebrates the achievements of inspirational young people between the ages of 11-25 in the local boroughs of Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham and Westminster took place on Tuesday 24th February 2026 at the Great Town Hall in Kensington. Award winners representing schools and colleges in the boroughs were honoured with a boxed gold medallion in front of audience of family, friends, peers and staff, in recognition for their many accomplishments.
Winners from St Charles were amongst those who had their successes publicly celebrated. They were Nazrul (Mohammed) Chowdhury, Navinu Thanakotuwe, Sara Flores, Jonabel Taguibao, Ploichomphoo Sumalee, Odelia Dako, Kimerberly Pacunana, Jude Khan, and Charles Webb Carey. They were each presented with their coveted Jack Petchey awards by Councillor Daryl Brown (representing West Kensington Ward) and all revelled in participating in the Jack Petchey group photo on the night!
The citations which were read out as each student was presented with their medals were a great source of joy and pride for the students and their guests, highlighting their incredible contributions in terms of leadership, teamwork, determination, resilience and commitment within the College and the wider community. The evening was a great success and all the students left feeling immensely proud in the company of their families and friends. St Charles Sixth Form staff present on the night; Jordan Macedo (Student Services), Katrina Nash (Head of Performing Arts), Liz Lancaster (Learning Support), Martin Twist (Principal), Colette Thomas (Vice Principal) and myself as Jack Petchey coordinator for the college were equally proud. This prestigious award could not succeed without the support of all the staff and students from St Charles’ community who regularly nominate and support our winners and keep the Jack Petchey legacy alive! In addition to the students receiving their award on the night, we were delighted to support St. Charles’ Assistant Pastoral Manager, Johnathan Gyimah who was awarded the Jack Petchey Leader award for 2024-25 for his incredible enthusiasm, energy and commitment to the lives of our young people at St. Charles. See link below to read about his fantastic contributions.
